Refund Policy
Last updated: 6 November 2026
Try first, buy once you’re sure. Every account starts with a free, full-featured 3-day trial on your own Mac and your own footage — no card needed. Because of that, and because your licence is delivered instantly, all sales are final except in the cases below.
1. All sales final
Payments for BACKROOM — first payments, renewals and Lifetime — are non-refundable once the licence has been delivered. At checkout you expressly request immediate access and acknowledge that you lose any statutory right of withdrawal where the law allows (see our Terms, section 8).
2. When we do refund
- Duplicate charge — you were charged twice for the same plan or period.
- Our mistake — you were charged after cancelling, or charged the wrong amount, because of an error on our side.
- Unfixable defect — a reproducible fault prevents the core function of BACKROOM (importing a supported Premiere XML and exporting an edit) on a supported macOS version; you report it to us with details within 14 days of purchase; and we cannot fix it or give you a working solution within 14 days of your report.
- Where the law requires it — nothing in this policy limits refund rights that applicable law gives you and that cannot be waived.
3. What is not a reason for a refund
- Changing your mind, not using the Software, or no longer needing it.
- Forgetting to cancel before a renewal — cancel any time before the renewal date to avoid the next charge.
- Your Mac, macOS version or footage not meeting the system requirements, or results on specific footage — the free trial exists to check this before you pay.
- Your account or licence being suspended or terminated for breaking our Terms or EULA.
4. Abuse
We do not refund where there is evidence of fraud, licence sharing, refund abuse or other manipulative behaviour. Any refund — whether issued by us or by Paddle — immediately revokes the licence tied to that payment. Repeated refund requests may lead to the account being closed.
5. How to request a refund
Email [email protected] from your account email with your order number (from your Paddle receipt) and a description of the problem, including steps to reproduce any defect. We reply within 2 business days. Approved refunds are processed by Paddle, our Merchant of Record, to your original payment method. You can also contact Paddle at paddle.net; Paddle may handle requests under its own refund policy.
6. Chargebacks
Please contact us before disputing a charge with your bank. Disputes opened without contacting us suspend your account and will be contested — see section 10 of our Terms.
7. Cancelling a subscription
Cancel any time from the app (Account › Manage billing). Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep access until the end of the period you paid for.
